Is it okay to exercise on the day of a procedure?

Strenuous workouts are usually paused for at least 24 hours; gentle walking is a different story.

Hard exercise raises heart rate, blood pressure, and skin temperature — all of which can amplify swelling and bruising at freshly treated spots. That is why most aftercare sheets ask patients to skip the gym on procedure day.

Sweat, pressure, and healing skin

Beyond blood flow, sweat sitting on healing skin can irritate it, and gym equipment or yoga mats pressed against the face add contamination risk. A common pattern is 24 to 48 hours off intense training, with light walking generally acceptable sooner.

The right rest window depends on the procedure and the person, so the clinic’s specific instruction wins over general rules. Athletes or anyone with a fixed training schedule can ask the specialist beforehand to plan the session around it.
