How long does redness last after laser?
From a few hours after light toning to a week or more after fractional work — redness tracks treatment depth.
Post-laser redness is the visible side of increased blood flow to healing skin. After gentle toning sessions it often fades within hours to a day; after fractional or ablative treatments it commonly lasts several days to two weeks, sometimes longer.
Normal course versus a signal
In a normal course, redness is at its strongest right after treatment and steadily settles, helped by sun protection, gentle skincare, and avoiding heat and alcohol early on. Flushing that briefly returns after exercise or a hot shower during recovery is also commonly reported.
Recovery speed varies with laser settings, skin tone, and individual healing. Redness that intensifies after initially improving, or that comes with rising pain, swelling, or discharge, falls outside the expected pattern and is worth a consultation with the treating clinic.
