What Can 3D Simulation Show Before Breast Augmentation?

Surface-scan software previews how different implant volumes might sit on your frame — a communication tool for the consultation, not a preview of the final result.

3D simulation systems photograph the chest with a surface scanner and render an estimate of how specific implant sizes and profiles could change the silhouette. Patients can compare several volumes side by side on their own torso instead of guessing from photos of other people.

A planning aid, not a preview of the outcome

The strength of simulation is shared vocabulary: pointing at a rendered image narrows the gap between what natural or fuller means to the patient and to the surgeon. It also helps flag asymmetries that the plan needs to address before any size is chosen.

Rendered images assume idealized tissue behavior, and real skin, muscle, and healing vary from person to person, so the on-screen result and the surgical result can differ. Treat the simulation as one input and consult the surgeon about how closely your tissue is likely to follow it.
