Why is my bruising sliding below the breast?

In the days after breast augmentation, bruises often appear to migrate from the breast toward the lower chest fold or upper abdomen. This happens because blood pigments released during healing drift downward with gravity as the body breaks them down and reabsorbs them.
Normal drift versus a warning sign
A normal bruise cycles through purple, green, and yellow as it fades over one to two weeks, even while it drifts. What deserves attention is the opposite pattern: a breast that becomes rapidly larger, tighter, and more painful, which can point to bleeding that needs prompt assessment.
The amount of visible bruising varies widely between individuals and does not by itself predict the final result. If discoloration keeps expanding after the first week, feels firm underneath, or pairs with fever, book a consultation at your clinic instead of waiting for it to fade.
