The band exists to hold the new implant in its intended position while the pocket heals — duration follows what was rebuilt inside.
After revision surgery the implant pocket has often been reshaped, repaired, or moved, and the upper-pole band or strap you are given is part of that repair. It applies gentle downward or stabilizing pressure so the implant settles where the surgeon placed it, typically over a period of several weeks.
Duration depends on the internal work
A pocket that was sutured smaller to correct bottoming-out or lateral drift needs longer protection than a simple exchange, so instructions range from a couple of weeks to six weeks or more, sometimes day-and-night at first and then daytime only. The right schedule varies by case, and following your own surgeon’s version matters more than any average.
Wearing the band in the wrong position — or skipping it because it feels tight — can let the implant migrate before the pocket firms up. If the band digs in, causes numbness, or seems to push the implant somewhere unexpected, have the fit adjusted at a consult instead of improvising; comfort and effect differ from person to person.
