Routine imaging recommendations mostly target silicone gel implants. Saline devices behave differently: if the shell fails, the salt water is absorbed by the body and the breast visibly loses volume, so the mirror often reports the problem before any scan does.
Different device, different watch plan
That is why the published MRI-or-ultrasound schedule is written for silicone implants, and no equivalent fixed imaging calendar is imposed on saline ones. It does not follow that saline wearers can skip everything — capsule tightening, position shifts, and ordinary breast cancer screening still need routine attention.
The right monitoring intensity varies with device type, surgical history, and age, so start by confirming on your implant card which device you carry, then set the plan with a specialist instead of importing the silicone schedule wholesale.
