How do I know if grinding is damaging my veneers?

Porcelain wears differently than enamel under grinding — the clues are readable.

Night grinding and clenching load veneers with forces far beyond normal chewing, and porcelain answers with characteristic signs: flattened or chipped biting edges, fine cracks, and bonds that fail earlier than expected.

Clues in the mouth and in the morning

Check the biting edges for new flat, shiny spots or tiny chips, and notice morning signs: jaw muscle soreness, temple headaches, or teeth that feel tender on waking. A sleeping partner who hears grinding settles the question faster than anything.

Confirmed grinders are usually fitted with a night guard, which spreads the load and shields both porcelain and jaw joints. Grinding intensity varies widely between individuals and over time, so have your dentist examine the wear pattern and decide whether a guard, a bite adjustment, or a repair comes first.
