Well-made veneers commonly serve for a decade or more, and many keep going well past that. What determines their lifespan is not the calendar but the condition of margins, bond, gums, and bite — all of which can be checked.
Signs an aging veneer wants attention
Watch for a widening or darkening margin line, gum recession exposing the edge, new sensitivity, roughness the tongue notices, chips at the biting edge, or floss that starts catching. Any one of these justifies moving the next checkup forward.
With none of those signs, an annual exam with periodic X-rays is generally enough to follow old veneers. Wear patterns differ substantially between individuals, so let your dentist set the interval and decide when repair or replacement actually becomes worthwhile.
