Right after cementation, the dentist has you tap and slide your teeth on colored marking film. The ink pattern shows exactly where the new veneers meet the opposing teeth.
Small polish, big protection
A premature contact makes one veneer absorb forces meant for the whole arch, raising the odds of chips, debonding, or jaw muscle soreness. Selective polishing of those spots — usually fractions of a millimeter — redistributes the load, and edge-to-edge and side-sliding movements are checked as well as simple closing.
Muscles adapt over days, and a contact that felt fine in the chair can feel tall at home — perception varies by individual. If the bite feels off, do not wait for it to wear in; return and consult the dentist for a quick re-check.
