Why is my tooth still sensitive weeks after getting veneers?

Early sensitivity usually fades. Symptoms that persist or worsen deserve an exam.

Mild temperature sensitivity in the first days after veneer bonding is common, because the tooth was reshaped and the nerve inside needs time to settle. The pattern to watch is direction: easing week by week, or holding steady and getting sharper.

When lingering sensitivity means something

Sensitivity that lasts beyond several weeks can come from a bite that sits slightly high, a margin where the seal is incomplete, or a pulp that stays irritated. Each has a different fix — a small bite adjustment, margin repair, or further pulp evaluation.

How long normal settling takes differs between individuals, so the timeline alone does not decide the diagnosis. If cold still makes you flinch after several weeks, or the feeling is turning into an ache, describe the pattern to your dentist and have the tooth tested.
