At What Age Can You Get Double Eyelid Surgery?
Most surgeons prefer to wait until eyelid growth settles in the late teens, and minors need guardian consent plus a clear reason to operate earlier.
The eyelid and the soft tissue around the eye keep changing through adolescence. Because of that, most surgeons see the late teens, after facial growth has largely settled, as the earliest sensible window for cosmetic double eyelid surgery. In Korea, patients under 19 also need a legal guardian to consent.
Why age alone is not the whole answer
A number on a birth certificate matters less than whether the eyelid shape has stopped changing. Some 17-year-olds have stable lids while some people in their early 20s still lose baby fat around the eyes, so readiness differs from person to person.
Functional problems are a separate track: severe lid droop that blocks vision can justify earlier treatment even in childhood. If age is your main question, have a specialist examine lid maturity and function before setting a date.
